Jacking up the front

I want to jack up my XK8 to do some work and am getting conflicting info on how to do it. Some say to jack under the cross member under the rad and others not to, because it will bend. Does anybody have any definitive advice or better yet practical experience ?

I have used the spot under the radiator support, as recommended by rev Sam, many many times without problems. That's how I get her high enough to place Jack stands in the notches for the Jack, just behind the front wheels.

I also jack up the front using the cross member below the radiator. But I place an 18-inch section of 2x4 lumber between the bottom of the cross member and the jack contact point in order to spread the load. Never had an issue while doing this....

I also use the cross member below the radiator without ANY issues...

Cheers folks ...I have a low profile 3 ton floor jack with a nice wide rubber covered saddle, but I'll put a bit of 2x4 on top as you have suggested. Under the rad just seemed like a weird place to jack up a heavy car. :)
