Low colant warning
Hi,
I have a 1999 XKR 70,000 miles on its second engine. I have recently got this message and cant get rid of it. I have checked the colant level, topped up as much as I can but with no luck. It doesnt appear to have a leak as the level stays high. If its the sensor can it be replace easily? Regards John London |
RE: Low colant warning
I had the same problem with my 2006 XK8 Victory- they had to replace the sensor, cap and a hose - there's a plastic housing that can crack, or fail. Ask the dealer to look at it and replace the parts.

RE: Low colant warning
They say the sensor can be replaced, but I've heard people trying, and having lots of difficulty. I recommend just spend ~ $150 on a new OEM expansion tank, with new sensor and cap as part of the package, and just swap out the tank. Easy to do in 15 minutes. Less stress, which in these days, is always appreciated.:D

RE: Low colant warning
I agree about swapping out the whole new expansion tank. The sensor is integrated into the tank. There has been lots of threads about people trying to fix just the sensors, but so far nothing I have seen has proven to work. gordo |
