lumpy cold running on 99 XKR

My XKR has suddenly started to run "lumpy" when starting from cold..... so far it clears after 2 or 3 miles, and then runs fine. I've given it a basic service, (new plugs, filters etc.) in case there was an issue there, but it doesn't seem to have helped. Apart from this, the car runs fine. Anyone experienced this before?:icon_confused:

Cold start relay?

Try cleaning the throttle body with throttle body cleaner. Also clean the part load breather on the cam cover.

A check for fault codes would also be well advised.

No such animal on an XK8/R. Cold start is controlled entirely by the ECU.

Thanks for the feedback chaps: I have cleaned out the part - load breather as described in the link, we'll see how it is in the morning when it's cold. I think I will buy a code reader, but all the ones I see on Ebay state that they're only good for post - 2001 UK cars; as mine is 1999 and British registered I'm not sure if they will work correctly. Anyone any thoughts?

Cheers,
John

It should work. The UK only required OBDII post 2001, but Jaguar supported it on all XK8/Rs marketed worldwide since '96.

Update: last night I cleaned out the part - load breather as described in the service sheet, and this morning it started up absolutely fine from cold and ran fine. I will clean the throttle body etc. this weekend; thanks for the help.
