do i have to sell my 97 xk8? my usual driving day consists of a one mile drive to breakfast every morning. this could explain all the problems that are getting worked on now. is it okay to only drive a mile, as long as the temp guage is in the middle? not willing to drive around wasting gas just to warm up.

Read this and see if it helps you understand the situation Auto Repair I could answer by saying if the engine gets to the operating temperature, but that may not be correct. I could say fuel presentation is the key, I could say anything you want to hear but the bottom line is all the above. Read my information and then ask me your questions and I will try to help.

Nikasil engine I’m confused!!

So after some research I know that the Aj26 engine has the Nikasil engine but what about the AJ26s engines?

engine number is PB0105211701
code is AJ26s

vin ends in PA23036

i have the 2001 model and I know the Nikasil is an issue pre 2000 but is the AJ26s engine just one off the shelf they have put in a 2001 model car

No AJ26 left the factory with steel liners. I guess by AJ26s you mean the supercharged version?

Engine # PB0105211701 indicates a 21st of May 2001 build, hence will be an AJ27 with steel liners (and plastic tensioners if original)

VIN ...A23036 car built June/July 2001.
