Yesterday, the passenger door mirror on my wife's 01 XKR started folding right into the window glass about 2 or 3 seconds before the motor stops running. The drivers side mirror is working fine.

Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?

Andy, maybe vcould you say more? Don't forget some folks call their car engine a motor and a motor moves the mirror. Maybe if you post sequential here's what happens when, it might help.
