Question Normaclamp Cobra Hose Clamps
How do you remove the Normaclamp Cobra without the specialty hand-held pliers. Should these be replaced with standard hose clamps when I'm done replacing hoses and thermostat housing?

I like special tools as much as the next guy but not enough to splash out on the Norma tool.
Always used a pair of plumbers pipe grips like this to remove and refit the clamps. Attachment 33157 Just squeeze the ends together and slide back along the hose. Safe and in control. There's different opinions on sticking with the original or replacing with worm drive. I prefer the original which give the correct tension without risking crushing plastic components through over tightening. Graham |
I use a small set of long nosed vise grips.
I can usually get them to lock on making it a bit easier to wiggle the clamp off. |

In case your talking about the quick release clamps (I can never remember all the various names for these clamps) shown here, you can squeeze the outside "humps" on the clamp towards each other. It will spring open. If not a gentle tug up on the retaining clip with a small screwdriver while squeezing should do it.

Yes its the quick release type, thank you!

These ones?
Attachment 33222 Also easy to undo and refit with a pair of pliers. 1. squeeze the shoulders arrowed in red together to release 2. squeeze the shoulders arrowed in blue together to refit Graham |

Hopefully you are in Phx this time of the year. Any idea where to get some new clamps for the radiator hoses?
I'd just get clamps from Autozone if your stuck, I'm not a huge fan of the ones with slots cut in the band. Can't beat a good Brit Jubilee clip. |
