Rear bumper guide seized bolt??
 
Hi Guys, first hello all as this is my first post, I'm in the process of replacing the rear bumper mounts and all seems fairly straight forward , the main bumper mounts have disintegrated completely so removal will be easy, I'm thinking I will have to purchase a new rear bumper beam as I can't see me getting the M12 bolt out of the beam insert, that problem is for another day. BUT having applied WD40 to the rear bumper guides in readiness for the removal I am wondering how to get these off if the nut starts to spin?
Any one had this issue? I have searched the forum and found excellent info about the larger M12 bolt spinning in the main bumper mounts, but nothing about what to do in the case of being unable to loosen the smaller guide bolt nuts, your help will be most appreciated.

You probably won't need to - once the two number 5s are out, the bumper just slides off backwards.

If those brackets are totally rusted when you get the bumper off, new ones are now available from Dave Roche but will require welding on once what is left of the old ones are cut away.

DD is correct the bumper should slide off these guides.

Once the bumper is off you may want to adjust the guides.

I had to do this job a couple of weeks ago as I wanted to slightly lower the front edge of the bumper. It turns out that the top edge of the bumper had been rubbing on the lower edge of the wing.

Anyway as I tried to undo the nut, the bracket started to bend. In the end I had to cut off the guides with an angle grinder and replace them with some spares I had in stock.

All the bits are off, large nuts well rusted in, had to bite the bullet and buy a new bumper beam, the small guides were ok and the bumper slipped right off, not a bad job and hoping to complete soon.

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious - use plenty of copper grease when reassembling to prevent the same thing happening again in a few years time !

Its all back together, the guides did slip straight off, the heights of the front edge were good enough not to bother with replacing the guide brackets, (no way would they move) I'm very happy with my first job completed on the Jag, BTW completed without ramps, a bit cramped but not too bad. Thanks for the tips. I haven't worked on a car for many years and these forums give the required confidence to tackle things, many thanks to all.
