Default Rear chassis rust beetle and repair

Hi Guys just thought I would show a problem that is beginning to show its ugly head in the UK.
Spotted this the other month and just had it fixed. This is a major job firstly removing the rear sub frame and then cutting back the layers of steel like an onion until you go through all three layers or a clean layer. I had both sides done with new plates welded in layer by layer with zinc weld on each layer before the next one and a finish off with stone chip paint. Before the sub frame was re fitted and the wheel geometry checked and adjusted.

Just a few pics, Glad its done.
MDS accident repair centre did a fantastic job and took good care of my car. I will be going back there to get my car re-sprayed removing stone chips etc. they have all modern paint and oven systems and this is their core competence and it could be seen on the cars being worked on.
Top job

Neat job.

In the first pic, is the holed plate with the yellow mark on it original or a previous repair?

Hi Graham that was an original plate that had rusted inside out, you can see the plate blowing out buy the expansion of the rust under the plate and then eating through to a hole.

Another water trap to add the the plate under the front floor sections.

They could have finished off with painting the whole wheelarch when you were spending all that money.

Hi guys
The reason for not stone chipping the whole week arch was getting the old wax off was long winded and time consuming more ££££££££ so it's not a problem for me to spray more wax around.
As for the slurry pit, well mines not the worst I've seen. It must be the salt the UK use in the winter, icy months. Got the bill today as well, could have been worse I think :-)
