Rear panhard frame
 

Can anyone tell me how to remove this, all bolts removed but am unable to get the frame out.

Is it the Subframe ('A' Frame - item 11) you're trying to remove?

Hi Graham, no it's the tubular frame with the 4 bushes, I am assuming it's called the rear panhard.

The Stabiliser Bar Mounting Frame at the back ........

Items 8, 11 and 13.

Is there even sufficient room to manoeuvre that without disconnecting and lowering the suspension sub frame?

Thats it number 13, I have some powerflex bushes for the panhard, is that what the panhard is or am I trying to remove the wrong thing?

There's a bush either side (at 'position 13') on the Monostrut and two more on the bottom of the Stabiliser Bar (item 11).

The 'position 13' bolts are obvious but have you disconnected the right ones at the bottom?

The bottom pair are arrowed in the upper diagram which is looking forward from the rear of the car.

The 'position 13' ones are arrowed in the lower diagram as seen looking up from beneath the car.

Thanks Graham, All bolts removed, just cant see how the frame is removed to fit the new bushes. Can anyone confirm that this is known as the panhard.

Jaguar call it a Bushed Differential Strut!

A Panhard Rod provides lateral location for a 'live' axle. A Watt's Linkage is a further advance which also provides vertical control.

The Jaguar Strut is a progression on these principles but I suppose you could call it a Panhard Rod as that is effectively the function it is perfoming.

Thanks Graham, as there are 4 bushes in the powerflex kit described as XK8 rear panhard bushes I guess this is the item they fit. Still trying to see how to remove it from the car though, all 4 bolts are out but there doesn't seem to be enough clearance to get the frame out. If anyone has done this job themselves I could do with a bit of advice as to how they got this panhard out. Thanks.

O.K. the package that the bushes are in describe them as rear axle brace bushes so I guess this is the correct part I am trying to remove,

JTIS procedure is to release the front 'A' Frame brackets and lower the diff approximately 25 mm to give sufficient clearance to allow removal of the Strut.

Many thanks Graham, are they the brackets that hold the big bush? and do I unbolt the bolts on the front of the bracket the ones that attach the bracket to the floor of the car?

Even with the two brackets at the front of the 'A' Frame released, the bushes are often seized on.

Spot on with the advice Graham, couple of the bolts, one of the long ones and a bracket bolt difficult to get out nearly rounded the heads, managed to hammer on a 18mm socket to get bolts out O.K. The bushes on the panhard/brace easy to remove they have a plastic sleeve. just got to put it all back together now, when I can find a couple of bolts. Thanks.

An easy job with the suspension out but not a lot of room with it on the car.

Good to hear it definitely is essential to drop the suspension for clearance. There's often shortcuts can be made on recommended JTIS procedures but I didn't think it would be possible in this instance.
