replaced Alternator- still a red message light problem, any ideas please. RESOLVED
Hello, couple days ago the alternator gave out, the voltage was down to 11.3 11.5. 2 second one in 2 years.
Had a Big red "Battery not Charging" in message window and red Battery on the right side dial. They flashed on and went of very quickly 2 or 3 times and stayed off.
Put in new alternator and seems to work well putting out 13.8 to 14.1 but now the red "battery not Charging" message is on all the time (solid) along with the red battery logo on right side dial.
Anybody have idea why?
Thanks for suggestions, ideas, thoughts.

Check the connection on the alternator. I had that happen when I first got the car and the sense line used by whatever drives the computer wasn't making good contact. Either that you may have gotten a bad alternator and that isn't functioning.

Some more info:
Here is the charging circuit for the XK8. Check the connections for the yellow wire as that can cause the charge error even if the alternator is actually charging. Its also possible your replacement alternator has a fault.
