I planned to change these this weekend...read up on all the posts, got the gaskets, and the tensioners arrived. One tensioner was oily, pin was missing, and there were chain scratches on the shoes... can't understand how this part could be slightly used and returned...anyway now I have to wait for them to send me a new tensioner...

 

Almost everyone has issues with the tensioners. Mine were changed by the dealer about 2 months ago and I was told these were the 3rd generation updated parts. Why would you buy used parts when the older parts have been an issue? One of my old guides was actually broken and both tensioners had cracks along the plastic spring housings...just waiting to break.

 

What?! Where did you order those tensioners from?

 

Tousley Ford online... I was a little worried when I saw the tensioner part box was taped up and oily. Called them and the guy said he will send me another... has to charge my card and then credit account when I return the other one. I was a little disapointed that I couldn't get this done over the weekend... I can't figure out who would put this part in, then take it out and return it .. oh well, mechanics mystery.
