Default thermostat housing

hi guys,can enyone talk me through step by step on how to change the thermostat housing tower on my 2001 xk8 as I am just about to change over from plastic to aluminium or if someone can give me a link to a vid of the process that would be great,thanks

The issue with removal/replacement of the plastic housing centers primarily on the two rear bolts. They are very difficult and require modified tools or an 8mm crows foot wrench . . . or you can just use a pair of pliers and nibble it out of existence. At that point the bolts are much easier to remove. I used a Dremal tool to cut a slot in the bolts for a blade screwdriver re-installation but a better solution is replacing them with Allen headed bolts.

test point has it exactly right, as usual. I am giving you a pictorial from jagrepair. com for reference, but it is far too involved. Look at the pictures and then do as test point says.
