Hey everyone, got my car back from jaguar after they replaced the tcm and flushed the transmission fluid. I now have a noticeable whine in first gear at about 3k rpm. It didn't do this before the service was performed. I ran over a puddle (more like a lake) in heavy rain and I know it shorted out the tcm. Insurance wouldn't cover it and told me it failed on its own. I said so Incoincidentally at the same time I ran through this puddle my tcm just decided to take a ****. And the insurance guy goes yessir that's what we believe. Chicken **** mf. Excuse my french but you would think after I've been with that company since I was 16 and Never had an accident they would help me out. Back to the transmission problem though. After I've driven the car for a lengthy amount of time 45 min to an hour, the problem goes away. Car shifts fine into gear and through the gears but the whine makes me worry because i know it's not normal. 2001 xk8 95,xxx miles.

 

I would have your shop check the fluid level again to ensure that it is correct. That is crucial for these ZF transmissions to operate properly throughout all gear ranges....

 

My car does the same. Its planetary's Vers high mileage for me.

 

Well this issue was solved. Just as I thought the transmission was low on fluid. 3qts low. I hate the dealership here in jacksonville. They charge and arm and a leg and do a half *** job.
