Default Winter layup this weekend

So it's that time of year again when the car comes off the road for 6 months - I always place a SORN (no vehicle excise duty notification) and save a few quid.

I have to park her outside on a hard standing (only the Mazda is small enough to fit in the garage)

So this is what I do.

last week:
1. Good run to warm things up (Millers fuel additive to 1/4 tank)
2. Wash, dry and polish - fresh water repellant/proofer to soft top
3. Park on tyre savers (needs 2 per wheel) 40 psi in tyres
4. Hand brake off - leave in park mode
5. Servisol contact cleaner/lubricant to all door catches/key holes and aerial
6. Connect CTEK battery charger to mains and select winter mode - I leave car unlocked without alarm activated
7. Wipers lifted just clear of windscreen (wine bottle cork under wiper arms)
8. Insect spray to cabin

Today:
1. Final polish
2. Damp trap placed in passenger footwell
3. Insect spray to cabin
4. New outdoor car cover (insect spray inside before final fitting)
5. Place plastic splash guards over wheels

That's it for 6 months now - shouldn't need to touch her until April

Good info, mine is going away this week also, but its inside a barn at a friends place so has a bit more shelter. I do most of the things you do but I take the battery out and lock the boot lid shut when its open to prevent problems next year opening it. I put a good cover on it and its for a XJS but fitts better than the new one I got off ebay which I found out is for a XK8, but the 2006 on model, which is a different shape.
Next year is XJS time, not sure if I'm looking forward to that as much as I was this year. Oh well we'll see what happens.

Although my house is tiny, it comes with a double car garage which includes the furnace for the house, so it is a warm place for the Jag and the Miata over the winter. Thoughts of storage are far from my mind today though, as I am off to a local show & shine car show to display my pride & joy.
