XK8 Power Seat inop - RESOLVED
2001 XK8. Drivers power seat stopped working. Continued to blow fuse #1. Pulled out seat control module, found broken traces on it. Sent the PCB in for repair. Repair person inspected the whole unit and found three additional traces that were bad and fixed them all and I put it back in.
Now...
up and down works
seatback reclining works
headrest up down works
lumbar works
Forward/backwards of entire seat....blows fuse
I completely disconnected the forward/backward motor, when I push the forward/backward button fuse still blows without motor attached.
I'm thinking something internal to the Seat Control Module messed up??
Any ideas?

From your description I would say you have a direct short to ground on either the motor cable or the switch pack itself.
Time to get a meter and start tracing, it shouldn't take too long to isolate the problem.

From the diagram, I am assuming you have disconnected the plug from the motor only. Therefore, if you have that lead still connected at the module end then it is possible.
If you have a diagram for your car you could remove pins 9(UY) and 10(OY) from the connector into the seat module. Isolate them and try again.
If the fuse blows the fault lies in the switch pack, if it doesn't then look to the module or the motor cable.
