Phil, a good dig around the forum will uncover lots of info related to your project. I will add that I had my car at a Mike Roddy Jaguar in Morrabbin, Vic this week we was very impressed at the level of service and costs. They had 3 e types and a few early S's in various state of restoration and the knowledge of the staff was unbelievable, they like talking to you about Jags.
regards
Lockie

Hi,
I have been reading this forum for a long time but just found this section. I have been in Australia for about a year and brought an aluminium XJ8 and an Austin Healey 3000 from the UK.
We live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne at the moment and I think that this jaguar forum is an invaluable resource since I do all my servicing and repairs myself.
Bob

Hi all,
I joined this forum about 6 months ago and have not as yet introduced myself to the Local members.
I purchased my first Jag, a 2002 XJ8 Heritage from the original owner about 9 months ago and have since covered about 10K km with one flat tyre being the only problem.
I live in Castlereagh at the foot of the mountains on the outskirts of Sydney.
Does anybody know of any XJ8 Heritages, as I have not seen any others on the road, or advertised for sale.
I am led to believe that Jaguar produced 500 specials for world wide distribution, to mark the end of the last true 100% Jaguar (i.e. no Ford design input) and the ones sold here in Australia were designated Heritage.
Hope to see you on the road and perhaps a bit more input from the Australian members on the forum.

playing around with the idea of purchasing a 2003 or later (aluminium body) Xj8, they are becoming very affordable mid - late NZ$20k, but mostly 2nd hand imports. I can only fit a SWB version in my lil' garage. Has anyone gone down this road and are there any more problems with Asian imported Jags. I've heard the goss that Mercs have bio degradable wiring looms and any Mercs from Singapore have countless electrical problems.

Another local (Sydney) - owned '66 Mk2 3.8, '87 Sovereign V12, '66 Daimler 2.5, and currently a '96 XJR 4.0L (supercharged) that now that I've solved a dirty throttle body (with Nulon Total Fuel System Cleaner) and a Sound System that "freezes" on hot days, I now need some new disc pads.
I know that the pads on later Jags are Ford compatible, and was wondering if it's the same with my XJR? Any ideas on the best all-round pads and a good brake-man would be appreciated.
Cheers Mates.

Hi there,
New owner of a 2002 X type (ex Japan) and keen to share and gather online info.
I have yet to find useful contacts to keep on top of my new responsibilities.
Any suggestions from Jag owners from Christchurch or NZ would be very well received.
May my needs for mechanics, parts and the like be near to not much.. .
Cheers.. .

Forgot this section is here!
I am afraid gents I have been too busy with all the other sections of this glorious forum and ignored my own backyard! Great to see it here.
Had a very interesting experience with my local Jaguar dealer recently. They have yet to respond so I won't comment, but if I don't get the problem fixed I will be letting the world know. Stay tuned.
Anyhow back to more interesting things, I have been retrofitting plenty of genuine Jaguar options that my car did not come equipped with, and have had mixed results. Any likewise experiences anyone??

Hi to all. I too like alot here have never really had a look in this neck of the woods.
I live in inner Melbourne and like pommy cars.
Had the STR for 3 years. Bought it at 39,000km.
A 74yo gent bought it new before me from Sydney. Lovely chap.
List price with options fitted (Nav=$6,000+metalic paint=$2,500), then=$171,000! Cruel! Most of that going in one way or another to Australia PTY LTD.
I do everything I can to these cars on my own and have sourced parts globally for many years with incredible savings to be had if you know where to look.
I am sure you would all agree that if you had to rely on the dealer network here for everything you would go broke fast!
Have (or about to) retrofitted genuine Jaguar--Audio Connectivity Module--Bluetooth Module--Rear Seat Entertainment System--Premium Amplifier--Reversing Sensors--Jaguar voice.
Repaired/replaced (or soon to)--rear lwr wishbones--transmission selector--rear brake pads--front lower wishbones--Upgraded front/rear speakers.
All done at minimal local cost.
Maintenance items required for the STR (4.2ltr Supercharged engine),
8 Plugs (iridium), dealer cost--$307.73 plus labour! My cost $82.69 delivered.
8 Points (engine uses one per plug), dealer cost--$1,011.47 plus labour! My cost delivered $162.30.
Total Dealer labour cost for above= $495!
Cheers
