Well, what a great day this turned out to be??
It was quite a little overcast early am and stayed that way for a while then cleared up a little in the afternoon, but crucially stayed dry.
Arrived at Mackies at around 9.35 am expecting to be the first there, only to find several cars already there....superb!!!
Most everyone else started to turn up over the next 10 - 20 mins or so and almost everyone was there by 10am, ready for a start.
There was the last minute issues with a few members who had to cancel, but we managed to fill their slots, and ended up with around 30 cars and 35 people......a few more turned up later for the meet event portion of the day too!
Due to the above and also to ensure that Mackies had a firstclass turnout, rather than a Jaguar meet, it became an enthusiasts meet event with around 22 Jags, about 7 Audis and 2 BMW's
I must apologise to all......I honestly thought I was organised, but missed a few things, (name badges as it turns out with that many people would have been a good idea for a start )
Also trying to get around everyone to make sure all were included, I may actually have missed one or two....If I did I can only apologise, but did my best.
The Audi owners and BMW owners all seemed to join in very freely and hopefully had as good a time as we had, I thought everyone gelled together particularly well.
I must say a HUGE thank you to Mackies for what I thought was a great presentation, very easy one to listen to, no sales pitch as such, just good solid useful information
.
John Mackie MD and his staff, took time out of his day and also persauded his wife to help too ( Thanks Dawn )
Coffee / tea / juice and sandwiches / biscuits all laid on too....fanatastic and really appreciated.
We were fortunate enough to have been given "goodie" bags from SNG Barratt that included various branded items.....THANK YOU so much SNG.
These were handed out and and appreciated by all, and really helped to make it a little more memorable.
We also gratefully received a $50 gift certificate from Pinnaclewax...
All names entered into a hat and Peter's wife Anne was kind enough to make the draw.
Gasthecat won, but as he was not there, it was re drawn and GGG of all people won it......couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke IMO.
THANK YOU again Pinnacle for your generosity
Please excuse the terrible phone pics and the hasty reply, just wanted to get something posted up as it were.
Graham of course had the all singing all dancing top of the range camera and took decent pctures pf everything and everybody.
I'm hoping he'll post these up along with a proper write up, but guess that may take some amount of time, so please watch this space.
In the meantime, I'd like to thank John and his staff at Mackies, SNG Barratt & Pinnaclewax for their kind donations, & also to every member / non member who travelled to be there today.
I was fortunate enough to meet some lovely people and really enjoyed your company, I hope you had an enjoyable day too.
Best
Jim

I'd like to add my thanks to John and Dawn together with all the staff at Mackie Transmissions ( Auto Repair Tollcross, Glasgow | Mackie Automatic & Manual Transmissions ) for an excellent tour.
Pinnaclewax ( Pinnaclewax.com- Pinnacle Car Care Products ) and S N G Barratt ( SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist ) both showed their continued support for the forum with generous donations.
However, none of this would have meant anything had it not been for the enthusiasm of everyone who attended. Great to have the opportunity to meet up. Thanks to all the members and non members who made it such an enjoyable day.

What I was especially please about was the way it had turned into a car enthusiasts meet......Jaguar, Audi and BMW owners all enjoying the day together.
Some really nice examples of both marques and clearly enthusiastic owners too, everybody really seemed to click after the initial "getting to know you" period.
I'm sure you'll have some much better pics and definitely a more thorough write up ( no pressure! )
Looking forward to your viewpoint

Hi All,
As others have said but just to add my thanks to Jim for organising a very interesting visit to Mackies Transmissions and the following get together at Strathclyde Park. A very enjoyable day and it was good to be able put faces to the names on the Forum.
Thanks again Jim, and oh for the goodie bags and that Hat. Hopefully will see if we can make the Jaguar Day at Doune on the 29th June.
Regards,
Telfer.

There was a video speed camera vehicle on the M74 near Lockerbie on the way back down. I hope Buck and Caldoofy also managed to take avoiding action.
As you know, I was taking photos of Mackie's process on automatic transmission and torque converter re-manufacturing. I'll put a selection of these together with some notes on the processes involved as I think it could be of interest to a wider audience than just those of us attending the meeting.

Although Jim (JimC64) or I (GGG) seemed to manage to make an appearance in most photos, this is the only one I've seen with us both. (Jim arrowed in red and me in blue)
Can anyone remember why we stood in front of the banner instead of holding it in front of the group?
Graham

YES - that's the effect of Coke and ice.
(NOTE 1: perhaps I should explain that means Coca Cola and frozen water, NOT cocaine and crystal meth)
(NOTE 2: on second thoughts, I can't speak for Jim's consumption on the day)
