Brake lights on. Will not shift out of park
Hello again, My wife drove the 2000 S type 3.0 (131,000k) to the store and called saying it will not go out of park. When I arrived the brake lights are on. ( all three ) I tried rocking the car even though not on an incline, pulled the center console and checked the interlock switch which would move and the shift lever moved a bit but would have broke if I pulled more. I jacked up the car and checked the bolts from the linkage. They are tight and attached. I even went under the dash pushed the brake pedal and moved the plungers on what I assume is the brake interlock switch and the other is the brake lights.
Help I left it overnight in a bad area. Is it a switch leaving the parking lights on and not letting it out of gear?

Transmission works but brake lights stay on.
With the help of the tow truck driver we rocked the car and the transmission works. The brake lights are still on and I assume its the brake switch on the brake pedal. When I unplug it the lights go out. The only part store in town with the part had one but the plunger was stuck out and would not move. Do I just need to order another?
Signed frustrated but car is finally home.

Solution to fix lights and shifter
We finally were able to rock the car and get the shifter into gear. Do not force the shifter because it is plastic. Now I will use the park brake first, then put it in park.
Brake lights always on: Removed the brake switch located on the lower part of the brake pedal. Gently twist and it pulls right out. Then unplug the wire carefully. The plunger was not out far enough to contact the stop on the brake pedal. I gently turned the black dial on the end, then was able to pull the plunger out a bit. I used some cable grease and replaced. Works great but I am still ordering the new switch for $20.00.
