New York owners step in

all around mechanics are hard to find. There are people who are able to address specific issues about your JAG. I think it mostly depends upon the area you are in. e.g. my nearest Jag dealer is almost 100 miles away. So I choose locals for specific issues and that has worked out ok so far. Then too, there are certain issues I can mess up myself lol then call someone to clean it up.. I try to keep my S3 up to par for if me and the krs need to do a road trip, out comes the S3 "batmobile" lol
good luck in your search

I don't drive the Jaguar in snow, I have a Jeep GC for that.
But I drive to NYC a few times a year. if you are worried about
crime in NYC, see list of most dangerous
cities in New York State. Birmingham is 12 out of 15 most dangerous
cities. New York City is not on the top cities list.
I am also from NYC - Brooklyn/Queens Area.

Hey John, I'm in your neck of the woods, I work in Sherburne and pass through Norwich every day lol. Nice to see locals.
I certainly wouldn't take mine to the city unless absolutely necessary. Not a crime thing, but more the road quality and the other drivers on the road. Don't get me wrong, I've never had issues down there before, and I could probably be persuaded to hit the Island if need be, but into the city is a big nope with any car I care about. I'll take a junker or rent a car and let their insurance deal with the mechanical nightmares born from the potholes there.

As for road conditions, I can not think of another city, town
place that can compares to NYC. Many Streets look like a motor attack just ended.
I live outside Gettysburg now. We do have one or two pot holes. People
actually write the local paper to complain. They have no idea how lucky they are.
I don't think conditions will ever change. I have been driving since I'm 16
They were work on the Belt Parkway. They are still working on it as of last summer
50 years later.
Pot Holes are truly a fact, a way of life and must be dealt with.

Born in da Bronx, grew up in Rochester and Ithaca, live last 40 years in Brooklyn. Agree about the potholes... first time I took my brand-new XE on the BQE...FIRST TIME!!!... ripped a sidewall and had to replace the tire! Very, very frustrating!
Crime doesn't seem to be an issue. Although I usually garage the car, I have often parked in the evenings in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. No problems thus far.

Hi, everyone. I've loved the XJ6, the XJ90 and the XJS since I was a kid. I now live in Manhattan and am still working out whether owning one while living here is workable or not.
Does anyone else live on this overpriced island? If so, do you guys have to go out to Jersey for repairs and maintenance or are there some good independent body and maintenance specialists in NYC?
From what I've learned here, if you can do your own maintenance, it makes ownership a lot more feasible and less expensive. Are there DIY places in the City that will let you rent facilities and tools? I've tried my best Google-fu, but nothing seems to be coming up.
Maybe I have to wait until I've moved out to a house with a real garage...

I have not been in here for a while.
There was a few people from NYC and or surrounding areas.
I moved to Gettysburg. Harrisburg Jaguar Dealership is very reliable .
They have a body shop that is said to be very good- I have not needed there services.
But I don't think you want to be driving out here.
