04 Alternator How difficult to replace

More than likely it's the cables...Replace them all to be safe.

I have remove all the cables on the alternator on my X-Type, also removed the bolt on top of it attach to the engine head, but it still fasten to the engine head, I can't find any other bolt, I any one tell me how to remove it?

The JEPC shows two bolts.

Great Tip. I have a 1990 XJ6 Vanden Plas. It has a separate TRIP Computer to the right of the steering column. Please describe how to access the engineering test mode on this model (Holding IN TRIP button?). My battery warning light stays on even after installing new battery, and battery seems to stay charged.
