Default headliner replacement

Hello everyone I am getting ready to replace the sagging headliner in my X. I ordered 108 by 60 of a great matching material. I understand that once I get the pillars and other accessories removed I take the shell out the back door. My question is do you guys have any tips? I have seen the pdf for removing the moldings but dont really understand them. Any advice would be great I dont want to screw it up :-P

how do I remove the B and C pillars along with the molding that goes along the sunroof. i got the a pillar off and the front lights and dome light off right now

Alright I have the thing removed from the headliner the only thing I broke was the base of the c pillar... thought it would just pull off. My next dilemma is what do I do with the wires glued to the other side of the headliner http://db.tt/q4rtlhRM

Although the headliner issue turns up in XJ and XK sections from time to time, you may be venturing into unknown territory for many X-Type owners. Only the really unlucky will have seen the 'wrong' side of their headliner.

I've added your pic from post #2 here as I missed it was a link on first reading:

Are you concerned about removing/replacing the wiring harness or hoping not to have to disturb it?

Well im not exactly sure how to disconnectbone of the harnesses so im opting to try to recover it while it is still in the car. Right now im vacuuming and scraping the old stuff off. Will take me a while but its one of those things once you start you better finish

Quinnjere:
If you don't mind... where did you get the headliner material from?
Cheers

Nice job. My headliner was sagging at the rear of the sunroof. I bought some industrial strength Velcro and ran a 2" wide strip the full width of the ceiling. It's permanently in place now.

You'll have to let us know how it goes and post some pics. Mine has started to sag a little on the rear corners. I've replaced headliner before on an S10, my only concern would be getting it out of the vehicle. Oh an make sure to use a little extra spray on tight bends because if you don't, it will start to sag in high heat, might I ask what adhesive you are planning on using?

Take as long as it takes you to figure out how unplug the harness. It will pay off! Please post pics when you are done! Good luck brave sir!

Quinnjere:
Thanks for the link to your pic of the finished product, looks good.
Did you use their kit that came with the adhesive?
I used faux suede on my Dakota & got my butt kicked on some of the more extreme curves

Good work.
I've added your pic here because links often get broken.

I used the two cans of hi temp adhesive. It was no fun doing it while the headliner was in the car but the nice thing is you have a couple minutes before it geta too sticky and once you put the accessories back up the small mistakes work themselves out. I got quoted 900 from the shop. This cost me 60 bucks and was a great learning experience.
