Default Anyone with bubbled tires or bent rims (20" wheel option)

Just purchased my 2015 Jaguar XJ Supercharged and it has the 20" Venom wheels.

Several of my past vehicles have worn low-profile tires and I've experienced at least 8-10 sidewall bubbles in the last 4 years, as well as a couple bent rims.

Living in the DFW area, the roads are either pristine (toll road) or junk (surface streets).

With the 20" wheels and low profile tires, has anyone experienced poor reliability with their tires and/or bent rims on the X351 XJ?

I was able to purchase a 3yr tire and wheel warranty (unlimited mileage) for $225. I see this as being a no-brainer, as one tire exceeds the purchase price. It is not form a 3rd-part warranty company, but actually backed be a competing vehicle manufacturer.

Any thoughts from others?

Never had a blown tire, but have had sidewall cuts from potholes that didn't compromise the carcass. Had one bent rim from a bad pothole and that was covered by my auto insurance. The wheels are quite well made IMHO and have had them repaired and refinished by a local wheel refinisher. I do have a spare front and rear rim so I can get repairs and stay on the road. Lastly welcome to the X351 experiance, it is a truly great car. I lived in the DFW area back in the early 90s and the roads were great to keep mixed drinks well homogenized.

Had a bent rim on a 20" Senta when I brought my (now departed) XKR from California. This was no doubt due to I-10, which around Palm Springs and Redlands is actually a peeling of the Moon's surface with striping and a center divider.

Whenever I visit family in the DFW area, I rent a car with big sidewalls. That way my dentist here in Vegas doesn't get to fund another Mercedes every time I leave town.
