Glad you're enjoying it, I can speak a bit of German I learnt at school. I'm tempted to go to night school or something to learn more, I was quite good at German but the colleges I attended didn't offer German language courses.

As for me, I've done nothing with my 308 the last 4 days because it's still at the body shop. However I did give my mats a bloody good scrub with hot water. I did it in the bath using the shower to rise the soap off, obviously I wasn't in the bath too! :P
Oddly, your rev counter looks a lot clearer than mine. I have a line every 200 rpm...

98 x308's get the smaller increments on the tach, 99+ get the 500rpm increments. I actually prefer the look of the 98 style tach, but the 98 speedo is slightly harder to read due to the arrangement of everything and the ticks being slightly smaller.

Ah, cheers for that! I like the more detailed look... I always thought it was related to the trim...

Yes, thanks for that info I wasn't aware of that either. I've never looked at a 98 car, I've never considered one for purchase. So now I know there were three changes to the instrument cluster design now. They changed it again around 2001 where it had a unused warning light that was for the XK models. It was for the active cruise control (many years ahead of other manufacturers) and I've always wondered why it wasn't offered on the XJ's.

replaced antenna & motor, now working repairing the automatic pop-up cup holder. While getting the antenna out of the donor car I also grabbed the console lid since the cup holder seemed pretty solid.

Replaced my leaking pinion seal finally! Up side, I didnt have to drop the rear to do it. Down side, the rear flex plate (big rubber donut) needs to be replaced so its on order. Whole thing would have been a 4 hour job otherwise.

Changed the air filter, I went with the OEM version and not K&N. Also filled some extra oil in the engine cause it was at the minimum after 10 months.

Default Unbelievable...

Someone left me a gift on the right rear 1/4 panel...I'd love to return the favor to them if I knew who did it...before and after pics.

Just replaced front shock mounts. Easy job thanks to everyone who has done this before and shared their experiences. Took less than an hour and I was going slow. She's a happy cat.

Avoided a fully open step ladder left lying open on its
side. The SUV in front swerved at the last minute on
the freeway and it popped into view. I heard a "tock"
from a tire as I went past. Must have hit the very tip
of the leg as there was no damage when I looked later.

I have no love for amateurs carrying their worldly
possessions tied on with string. Transports? No problem.
It's the fookin' amateurs.

Pulled my S/C for the third time in 5 months (down to 4 hours off/on) to ditch the hard plastic, noisy coupler the rebuilder put on it. Went with a urethane one, much better.

+1 Here!
When I transport anything and especially when it's on a trailer I make sure it can't move in any direction. But it is enraging when you see how ignorant people can be with trailers, not only badly loaded but also the trailers are in poor condition too. When I transport a car on my trailer I make sure there are two straps on the front and back of the chassis and I tend to strap all 4 wheels down.

For clarification when I say trailer, I mean a box trailer for taking things to the tip or dump, not a caravan you can live in.

I love tucking in behind coaches on the highway

They are generally moving at a good pace, can see further
ahead and are driven by professionals.

Makes for stress free night runs on the highway.

I tried to drive mine to the store but some moron doing her hair, smoking and talking on her phone rear ended me at a red light. I pick up the rental and drop at the body shop tomorrow. I guess that's one way to fix the luggage scratches on the bumper cover!

First of all its my wife's X308.
Replaced power steering pump because of a bad bearing. The pulley was wobbling significantly.
Then worked on driver's door. The latch has been sticking at times. Checked it out and the plastic on the latch was doubled up. Decided to trim off the plastic enough so it won't stick. If it continues to be a problem I'll replace the latch mechanism.
My wife has been complaining, sorry I mean she brought it my attention, that the key fob hasn't been working properly. I thought it might be batteries. Took it apart to replace batteries and removed circuit board to clean and found a goo between buttons and board. Clean it with electronic cleaner and works pefectly now.
