Insurance rates are lower for 4 seats vs. 2 seats.

You should have seen me the first time I started looking at these cars back in 2008 as a replacement for my 1995 Corvette. The Corvette was truly only 2 seats and had a decent storage "shelf" behind the seats so I was already used to a car with only 2 seats. But the wife never liked the idea of a 2-seater (even though we also had a sedan and barely used the rear seats in that) so when I was looking around I concentrated on sporty cars but with rear seats. The others I had looked at in that category (e.g., Infiniti G37) had an actually usable rear seat. So the first time I encountered an XK8 on a lot I saw the rear seats and figured they must be comfortable. So I made the mistake of prying myself in the rear and it was really a joke. Still I didn't really car and it at least enabled me to convince my wife that this was not another 2-seater.

That is what the rear seats are for - grandchildren. My 16 year old grandson with the size 13 feet has to ride up front, but the other two, 9 and 13 are happy to squeeze back there, with the smaller one behind me and the other on the right. The oldest just canceled a camping trip with his girlfriend and her family in order to come to visit his grandfather (and just maybe to get another ride in the Jag ?)

16 and a girl or a car? Just kidding.

I have a 9 year old and short wife so he fits decently behind her for shorter rides. Would not go 300 miles but around town we can put him back there for a few more years. She is a teacher so most of the time if she is hauling him around he can ride in the front anyway since I have my car and get off later than her.

You can fit a couple of short young women, between 18 and 23 (5 foot 3 or less) who weigh less than 115 lbs as long as you allow enough room for their legs. This works better if you yourself are short.
Take it from me, the guy who has stuffed three girls in the back seat and a best friend in the front after a night of drinking.

Took my pal to his house, and the girls and I went to a hotel. Next day we all went our merry way. I drove back to my dorm at 11 am where my mom decided to stay the weekend. She asked if she would have to go to the maternity ward. I said I don't think so.
The end.
Or did you mean how did I get them all in there?
Quite simple, they were drunk and found a way of slipping in the back seat without getting on each others nerves. Having the top down helped.
