LOL - There is at least a quarter of an inch to spare. That's what a guy can do when he REALLY knows his car (or when he isn't paying attention but gets lucky).

A little over the top for me, Phil. But, as always, I totally respect how you've transformed your car. Keep it up, and good luck at the upcoming show!!

I've kept my original plastic covers for non show daily driving. The Union Jack covers are for that surprise fun detail at shows. I've watched the people and they always get a big kick out of those kind of crazy details! But the red engine covers and chrome pipe I really love, and the caps.

Phil,

Points deducted for the Union Flag covers.

The Union Flag is a combination of:

1. red cross of St George on a white background (England)
2. red cross of St Patrick on a white background (Ireland)
3. white cross of St Andrew on a blue background (Scotland)

The border should therefore be either white or blue but not red.

Just hope the concours judge isn't as pedantic as me!

Graham

Ehhhh, wrong!! I'm in the Special division! S-2 I have to start with 40 point deduction. This division isn't judged on how many or what mods have been made, it's judged on quality of mods, cleanliness, condition of car.
I'd never enter the classic or driver division!! Lol

Hi Phil, couldn't help but comment on your Union Jack covers. Ref Union Jack, its a common mistake to call the flag. This ref is for the flag flown AT SEA by a ship or boat. On land its the Union Flag. A bit of history from another pedantic Northern Englishman LOL's
The car as always looks superb your attention to detail is well known and to be commended. The colour combination on the other hand, is a matter of taste, but, hey whatever floats your " boat ".
Cheers,
Arty

Actually, in person, the white is beige. Matches my oatmeal seats. I debated on doing the blue in black but everyone talked me out of it. (I may still change to black!)
They have a bit of a vintage feel in person so the color isn't as bold. And if you see whole car, the red is the same as the calipers that are very visible through the wheels. So there is a continuity. The flags don't seem as big when your looking at it in person either. I think since they are the closest to the camera, the look much bigger and bolder than they really are. Actually, if you look, they look larger than the engine so it's a definitely an optical illusion.
As for the name confusion, I thought that in 1908, it was put before parliament and decided that the Union Jack should be regarded as the national flag. I believe in the 1700's the term Union Jack was reserved for ship, but it was eventually adopted as the national flag. My local British mates always call it it the Union Jack (their the ones that talked me out of the black where the blue is!) Either way it and Jaguar are iconic British symbols and look good together!!
