Battery not charging

Battery not charging
Hi all.
I've got the "battery not charging warning" on. I've got 14.2v on the battery with the engine running, 12.6v with it off. I've swapped out the alternator for what should be a good one. I removed the instrument trim and there's no voltage on the white/slate wire to the major instrument panel so I'm thinking I have a poor connection on the two pin connector at the alternator which is fine but there's zero slack. Any wise advice?

+1 on Norri's suggestion
The link to which RJ refers may be this thread started by noterman, who had exactly the same symptoms. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...essage-138390/
As you're getting the ~14v on the battery with the engine running, that would suggest the alternator is charging - just the car doesn't know it..
Unfortunately, I don't know the nature of the signal sent by the regulator to the instrument pack, but my guess would be a simple x volts=charging, 0 volts=not charging
In an ideal world you'll start measuring at the alternator and work back, but I know that 2 pin connector is a pig to get at with everything in place, so may be easiest to work from the pack outwards.
In noterman's case he'd accidentally bent a pin on a connector further along the loom during an engine R&R.
HTH,
Mike
Apologies for the formatting. I hate computers...

Only multi connector I can find is the big mother one behind the throttle body. Where is the two-pin connector?
Edit. Just re-read your post. Do you mean the two pin connector on the alternator? I soldered a couple of test wires on to the two wires to measure voltage at the alternator
