This is one user's experience with the installation of the homebrew Bluetooth kit.

6. Using trim removal tool, remove 2 buttons from within the ICE stack.
7. Remove button from underside top of trunk toward parcel shelf.

* Not Shown-Remove button from trunk corner - where brake light is.

8. Pull away side carpeting to expose ICE stack.
9. Using 10mm, remove 4 bolts which mount ICE stack to car.
10. Forward rear - bolt easy access.
11. I could reach through the stack to remove cd changer power cable (shown) but could not remove the optical cable without removing stack. If so, this could be a shorter install.
12. Back rear - bolt had a loom which ran over top. This was snug, so be careful not to fray or nick a cable.
13. Remove optical cable from front stack with trim tool.
14-16. Remove optical cable from CD changer
17. Connect CDC power connector to veffremov power extension cable.
18. Tape it.
19. Front view ICE stack - mocked up.
20. Shows USB extension cable and USB receiver.
21. Taped it. This in case the extension cable gets hung up when retrieving it, the small USB reciever does not become dislodged.
22. Instructions are to place the reciever in parcel shelf. Located this access and decided to attempt placement.

24. Connect battery and test (key on).
25. On iPhone, check bluetooth connections.
26. Select iQuirius JSync.
27. iHeart Radio Streaming.

* Successful Test - Time to final fit.

This car does not have phone or voice, so I elected to place the BT unit where the voice unit would be instaled. This leaves location for phone install still available.

This is quite a comprehensive install description! I was the other one that installed the Veffremov blue tooth streaming device in my 2004 XJR and I am extremely happy with it!! It exceeded my expectations. If you are used to tinkering with your car, this is a walk in the park. If not, the instructions that come with the unit are comprehensive plus with the aid of the first post in this thread you should have no problems installing it.

Update...

Received the version 2 of this device. Install as described earlier.

Items to note-device is smaller, more 'refined' package with status led indicators. The plug in connections are re-oriented and casing is a red/blue combo.

Very well done; installed in 05 sv8. As you see from pics, trunk stack is "full" so I used some automotive trim tape to adhesive unit to the (outside) side of the stack.

Usability improvements include an audio connect tone and voice command to indicate it is time to pair the phone.

 

Very koolz!!! Mannnn I need this like asap!!! I've spoken with Veffremov already tho, so it's just a matter of when, but TOMORROW wouldn't be soon enough for me considering how bad I want/need this!!!

 

VEFFREMOV IS A FARKIN GENIUS!!! I a/b'd it with a CD (same track, same audio settings) & I really could not hear any differences!!! & it was/is a breeze to hook up. Mind you, I do not have a CD CHANGER, so I'm saying that to say it's literally plug & play! I purchased 1 extra loop of eBay, sliced them, daisy chained, & voila!!! You do NOT have to go to the dealer to get them to activate anything!..

I made a video of some of the functions. (Not the install) just having a Lil fun. again, tonite, I road around with the wife good almost 4 hrs just listening to music.

I received my kit this morning and after finding the docs on my google shared files, I cracked on. My experience is as follows:

I have a 2004 XJ8 Base with SATNAV and CD Changer. No phone module or DVD player.

I used the following tools:

1. Adjustable spanner (for the battery connection).
2. T20 torx screw socket.
3. Wrench
4. Long nose pliers.
5. Velcro fasteners (came with the kit).

Total time taken 1hr.

Mechanical knowledge required: Low

Documented as follows:

1. I emptied the boot and identified the retaining clips that hold the left fabric trim cover on. I also emptied the CD Changer prior to disconnecting the battery.



2. I disconnected the battery.



3. I removed all the retaining clips and slid the cover out of the boot (trunk) area giving full access to the ICE equipment.



4. I removed 8 small screws holding the CD changer to the rack. T20 torx screw used here (YMMV).



5. Slowly remove the CD Changer from the rack and disconnect the plugs from the back. The optical socket needs the top to be depressed. The power cable just pulls out. *** While removing the changer and cables, I also inadvertently loosened the DVD/SATNAV optical cable in above box and had to replace it ***



6. CD Changer removed and the remaining cables. I held the BT unit upside down and removed the tape and the Optical cover ensuring the optical bits did not fall out. I attached the optical cable first then the power unit to the BT unit.



7. I then re-attached the battery and started the car. Bugger me, it was practically plug and play. My phone found the BT and connected without a hitch (Iphone6+). Music streamed to my Jag. WHoot, diddly whoot!!!!



8. I attached the BT adaptor using the supplied Velcro to the side of the rack. It looked sturdy enough.



9. I replaced all the trim, secured the battery correctly and checked the BT unit. The lights were on, the music was playing and now all I have to do is get to grips with the new Iphone music player..



However, Some points to note.

a. The cables are very tight at the rear of the rack, be careful not to stretch and break them.

b. Empty the CD changer before disconnecting it from the vehicle and the battery.

c. Doing any updates maybe a pita as the small BT dongle (and USB socket) is now at the rear of the device because of the short cables. I may plug the small provided USB cable in and mount the BT dongle on top of the rack making access easier all round.

d. Some printed instructions inside the packaging box maybe useful as I was at a bit of a loss until I found them online (senior moment!!).

e. Worth every penny.

I was installing the kit for a gentleman, who drove to my house today. Apparently on earlier cars the CDC power connector just slides out, but on later cars it has a locking pin. It took forever until I figured out one has to press the whole connector down and then pull.

Anyhow I updated the install instructions with a picture.

 

@trosty the kit should have 2 USB cables one long (6ft) and one short(1ft), connect the short cable to the device then the long cable to the short one, finally the end of the long cable is connected to the USB dongle and that is mounted on the rear shelf close to the speakers.

Route the USB cables so you will have easy access where the short cable connects with the long cable. To perform SW update disconnect the long cable from the short cable and plug a USB stick.

I personally let the two USB cable junction hang from the stack and behind the door for easy access. See pic.

Mine is installed too. I was crippled the next day from packing myself into the trunk, but that had nothing to do with the system. It works better than advertised. Worth every penny and then some. I don’t have the “voice module” installed, so I mounted it with Velcro on top of the lower module box of the stack, very simple. IPOD came right up first time. I did notice that I have to wait for it to power ALL the way down (approx 20 seconds)before powering back up, as it gets a little confused. Sounds great as Marque said in his posts. At first I didn’t like having to push play or CDC to start, but I now like that it doesn’t automatically play when ignition is turned on. What I mean is that it is in “pause” until I want it to play when first powered up. All it takes is another push of CDC, and away it plays. Has anyone out there found any other new hidden tricks with there units? I also had a bear of a time with the release tab on the power plug. That was the hardest part of the whole install. The tab is hidden on the side of the plug, and a B#%tch to release. It was touch and go for a while, and a little nervous.

Thanks again Venelin, you have found a solution to every X350 owners major gripe, no MP3/streaming input .
As a side note. When everyone on the forum says “they can’t believe the car doesn’t have streaming” I would refer them to a 19 year olds reply (my son) “Dad you idiot, Mp3 players did not exist, nor did phones store music in 2006, How could they install something that wasn’t invented yet”
I guess that’s like expecting A/C and adaptive cruise control on a Ford Model T.

Made a 1600 mile road trip without a hitch. And streamed all the way. Did I mention the sound is unbelievable !!!!!!

I don't know that you can put this, or any particular app on the iPod to do this, but I have an APP called "Bluetooth Connect and Play" that plays as soon as the Bluetooth is connected...

What's funny is, I've been steaming music so long now between my car & my truck, that it actually freaks me out a little when I have it on the radio when I crank up, & the music immediately starts to play, being I'm used to around 10-15 secs of silence! Hahaha

But yeah, that type app, if there's 1 for the iPod, would do it for ya...

 

I have the USB cables, but I have found that the dongle works just as good plugged directly into the box exactly as you send it.
Connected to the rack as mine is works perfectly.
The cables I will use for upgrading OS.

 

I'm a big fan of "If it's not broken, don't fix it".

That said from personal experience I found that when the dongle was in the trunk, my phone would not connect from time to time or the audio would just stop and then start. It was dependent on where the phone was in the car. If you experience any of these unpleasantries try moving the dongle to the back shelf.

btw. I took you suggestion and now the packing slip has a link to the docs.

 

It does pick up pretty good! Really good actually. I can be in the house while the car is on, & the music plays flawlessly. I do have the long cable on the upper rear just because, but like I say, it has some real good distance tho. (@least mine does)
