In car Wi-Fi
I think Im in the right section here :?:
If not please move.....
Without going to much in to detail, the main reason for buying the Sovereign LWB is to use it as a Hire car. I want to use it for corporate chauffeuring as well as weddings etc....
Im currently looking into wiring the car up so businessmen can jump in the car log in synchronise their e-mail or surf or whatever they want.
What is required so this can be done....
I've seen company's who do this but they want £550 +vat

Here is a good site for build a computer for your car. You would essentially want a seperate computer for just the purpose you described so you dont interfer with the stock wiring of anything. The you could have the regular stock radio and such and then have a seperate touch screen with mini keyboard for your computer with a front end to make everything easy to access. With it being stand alone it will make things alot easier and you wont risk messing up any wiring in your car. All you really would need is a switched lead from the ignition to tell the system that the car is on so that it gives it power so you dont drain the battery. Then you would just have to get a wifi or 4g type usb stick to get internet. Then its just a matter of making sure you have service everywhere you would be driving. You can run a usb extension to get the attenna part to a part of the car to get the best service. That site will have a lot of info on different options you have and should help you alot.

Jailbreak it, get PDANET. Make sure you have it plugged into a charger (using it as a wifi router kills batttery FAST). It will create a mobile wifi hotspot.
Take care,
George
Hi George

When I try this I will report back.
Need a good cheap iphone first

Don't bother with an iPhone. Get a Nokia with 3G and buy Joikuspot. Unlike the iPhone, no jailbreaking necessary. Also, ATT charges a preimum for iPhone service because they know you will be downloading a lot of data.

Similar to posts above, but the simplest solution is to get a smartphone running android OS (2.2 or later) with unlimited data plan.
Android 2.2 devices or later have built in function for tethering.

Android is the name of the mobile operating system developed by Google.
Its a hugely popular operating system - you can find hundreds of different phones that run Android.
Any phones that run Android version 2.2 or later allow you to do tethering.
Tethering allows you to simply take the high speed mobile data connection on the phone, and share it as a wi-fi hotspot.
So by doing this, any of your passengers could connect to this mobile hotspot and get high speed internet (assuming you are in an area where your mobile phone gets good signal)
Hope that helps...
