Looks like the Blaupunkt RPD 550 CD/FM/AM unit in my Dodge Ram pickup is on its last legs. Multiple errors (usually E-01 or E-05) stopping my CDs in the middle of play and then refusing to eject them until I cycle the unit on and off a few times. It's sporadic and unpredictable. Removing the faceplate and pressing the unit's main reset button helps for a few days, but the CD eject problem always returns eventually. Only paid about $140 for this unit back in November 2001 so I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of it. It is rated at 200 watts total, 50 watts to each of the 4 speakers. It has been plenty good enough for listening to my music in a less-than-ideal acoustics pickup truck environment....

So what's a good install-it-myself replacement unit these days for $150 or less? 200 watts is plenty of power and I don't want to go below that. All I listen to are my CDs and FM radio and that will not change. I don't care about Ipod, MP3, cassette tape, or even AM. Just CDs and FM....

 

There just so many different models from several different companies. I don't think you can find any deck without mp3/wma playback features.

I just took quick look at sonic and there are tons of unit under $100.

Personally, I like Pioneer and Panasonic units. I tried Sony but I didn't like the sound quality but it had tons of good features (including wired joystick remote back in 1997).
