Just bought myself my first jag ( a 1982 XJ6 ) I've wanted one since I was about 12 ( now 54) it was cheap and has a couple of issues so I'm hoping to be able to sort them out with a bit of advice from experienced jag owners . The most pressing issue is a problem when the car is cold it starts and idles ok and takes off ok but when you take off and put your foot down on the accelarator it just dies but blows black smoke like it is flooding ??? If you keep going and take your foot off the accelerator for a bit it then comes good . Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated. Thank you. John

Depends on whether the Licensing Authorities in Australia release information on owners. If they do, it's straightforward. If like our DVLA in the UK, they won't release data, it makes tracing difficult.
Get as much information together as you already know on registration number, date purchased, date sold, colour, trim etc and post the question in XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum section with a pic or pics if you have any.
There's several Australian XJ6 owners on the forum. You could strike lucky and find the present owner or get a reply from one who knows something more about the vehicle.
Good luck.
Graham
