I have to say that despite clearly being successful at something to be able to afford it the people who amass these "collections" are obviously batshit crazy.

some people see things as they are, others how they might be

I reckon the 80/20 rule will apply

About 80 % of this stuff will go as parts and scrap, and 20% will result in some nice cars living on

e.g. one of the guys in our club is desperate for a pre 1949 truck, he has previously bare metal restored an iconic Aussie muscle car. He would be very capable of breathing life into one of the old trucks on the list. He and some cronies will be down there on the day.

Imagine the treasures that could be in there.
A few of us from our club will definately be going for a look.

We went and had a look this afternoon and unfortunately Graham is right.
Of the hundreds of vehicles you'd be lucky if a dozen are restorable.
Some of the others might have salvageable mechanical parts but most of it is just RUST. Garden ornaments at best.
The stuff in the photo is the cream.

Ken,

I re-sent your comments to people in our local car club and a Morris Forum I frequent. They said to say thanks for letting them know. One of the local guys still went as he had some socialising to do at Port Arlington.

His feedback was " Your mate was right, it was depressing"
