C'mon Rob, Matt, Stuart ... and all WA Jag Lovers
C'mon WA Jaguar Lovers ... Rob, Matt, Stuart ... it's painless; it's free; and it's not just about us being able to keep in touch with you ... it's about you in the West being able to share the knowledge about local parts and services, as well as the fun and friendship of sharing a common interest.
Thanks Jim, for beating the drum, but now it's really up to you locals. Jump in here by posting a simple "hello" ... Jim can followup by turning this thread into a Sticky to keep it readily visible. Being an open public forum, suggest you avoid full addresses, phone numbers, complete VINs, unless confined within Personal Messages (PM) but even as cautious Aussies, we tend tio be a fairly laid back first name bunch.
Best wishes to all,
Ken

OK, I'm shamed into typing by reading of more WA enthusiasm from NSW than locally!
Moved to Perth from the UK in 2005. Drove a bunch of XJS variants over many years in the UK.
I'm back into Jags - with a 2010 XKR, bought this May - after a long interlude with FPV/HSV.
The local Jag Club has a track day on the 12th August, so I'm going to give my very rusty skills a bit of a polish..unless it's raining, as I don't want to test the traction control that much of a test on the first outing.
Cheers,
Rob

Welcome Rob ,I hope you get to do the track day.
Please keep involved in threads or feel free to start new threads on anything that might interest local members in your area.
And the other Australian forums. How do you think I came across this post.
Just trolling the Au forums for something to do at 1am. But I am looking, none the less

Stirring up interest in WA
Hahahahahaha Rob ... you're a cracker ... of course we are interested in you from over yonder in the east ... our aim was not to shame you into action but rather ... that you have a great deal to share and you are turning my knees green with envy.
Why? Because, whether an XK8 or XKR, you have already got the car I'm waiting and wanting to learn all about prior to nailing one for myself. That won't happen soon, and it won't happen at the expense of our S-Type ... but the departure of our Series1 4.2L E-Type sure leaves a big hole.
In the meantime, I may get to enjoy yours vicariously ... by you sharing the sort of stories that Clarke, Grant, Neil, Jay, Steve, Red and a host of others write about here.
So, do stir the pot, and yell if you need a hand. As I see things in Oz, Jaguar Forums and local Jag Car Club are not competitors but complementary. As a former long time JDCA (Vic) member, I see benefits in joint membership and, in many cases, joint activities. Your track day is a good example, so I hope you have a great event. Remember to post a pic or two.
Best wishes,
Ken

Hi Ken,
Nice reply, thanks. I agree about the complementary role of local clubs - I was hugely impressed with the turnout at my first meeting (and the clubroom with bar!) and look forward to joining club activities.
You have/had some great Jags - If you're not in a hurry, I do wonder if they'll lower the import restrictions when manufacturing ceases locally. Have you seen the price of UK XKRs? - 1/3 rd the cost here!
Will do photos. Wife and I will both be driving on the day - we're trying to work out if the Go Pro will mount somewhere!
Cheers

Hi Guys
Hi Guys,
Stu here. Pretty excited about the W.A. thread. Like you, I am a passionate Jaguar owner. I have a 2007 (2008 Aust Comp.) X-Type and it has been a great car. I bought the car new from Solitaire in Adelaide (I lived there for ten years) now i'm back home in WA. It has been a great car. The only minor issues I have had have been with the reliability of the bluetooth, but im sure that's an iPhone thing and the rear 6CD stacker wont play anything. (I have heard this is a common problem). I use iPod anyway!
I recently replaced the factory mats with custom mats from Roadbend. $134 and they look better than the factory issued mats. Pics attached.
Anyway, have a great week.

Hi Stuart, we are all passionate Jaguar owners here. We are hoping the regional forums keep the members in the states more in touch with local members. The start has been a bit slow, but starting to pick up.
Most of us check the other states regularly to keep up to date and in touch.
I will not say welcome as I see you have been a member a fair while longer than I have.

Hi Rob, Stuart ...
Your local meet sounds like a great opportunity to say "hello" to each other.
Rob, careful of bragging rights with wife also driving. My wife Chris and I did similar in Vic many years ago ... flying lap times still a taboo subject here. Upside? We met and got involved with a great bunch of Jag owners. Downside? Forever after, Chris found areas like the Hay Plains impossible to negotiate at anything short of flat out!
Stu, great to see you got your floor mats ... and at a good price too. Nice pics of a nice car Stuart, and keep them coming. We just about having our drooling under control, although I think I'll be tested by Rob's XKR!
Best wishes,
Ken

G'day all, you can add another (pretty slack member - I haven't logged in for ages!) to the WA list. My daily drive is an early (03) X350 XJ8 4.2 SWB, which has now done 89k and is maintained in pristine condition by Tony and the crew at Roadbend. Look out for me around town - my Quartz grey car wears XJX 350 plates so it's pretty easy to spot!
