Hi all,

My 2011 XJL warranty is about to expire. We have very low kms (some 40K) and want to go with an extended warranty. We talked to the folks at MCL and their package was 7K!! I nearly choked. Anyone in Canada have an extended warranty they are happy with and can recommend?

$7K is about middle to kinda upper end of the range. $5K might be low end. Aftermarket warranty companies make money by charging customers more than they (on average) have to pay out. You've got a 50/50 chance of falling on the side of not needing $7K worth or repairs.

Take the money instead and put it in the bank. Draw on it to pay for DIY repairs or for things that require your friendly neighborhood indy mechanic.

If you can't DIY and don't have an indy and don't have the stomach for playing the odds, buy the warranty.

 

The 2004 Vanden Plas I bought last year had been covered by Easy Care Vehicle Service Contracts----the coverage was from March 2008 to March 2012 or 100,000kms,fairly comprehensive coverage with $100 deductible per visit and the cost was $2675.


The previous owner had receipts for over $10,000 paid out by the insurer over the period of the coverage.


I have no idea of current coverage cost---but I was impressed by coverage as was the previous owner.
