Welcome, Gordon. I am a bit surprised that (so far) forum members are spread around BC, rather than being concentrated in the Lower Mainland, where the population centres are.

Rob:
No surprise: it doesn't have much to do with where the populations centres are - it has to do with where the Jaguars are! And there are more Jaguars in the Victoria/Vancouver area than anywhere else in BC (and as many in Victoria as in Vancouver!).
For all BC owners - and those in Washington and Oregon: please put Jaguars on the Island on your calendars for 2014 - this is the largest Jaguar show in North America - your car wants to be on the field: July 25-27. I'll post more information as the event comes near but there will be details on the website of the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria: jaguarcarclub.ca

This is true - I lived in Perth, Australia and per capita has the highest ratio of Jaguar ownership worldwide apparently. Perth is a relatively small city in the middle of nowhere.

Greetings from the Canadian Perth! Our little town of ~6500 pop. boasts a grand total of three Jags, including mine.

I`d be delighted. I`m always looking for an excuse to swill coffee and talk Jaguars. There are a few differences between NA spec cars and UK spec cars. We can discuss all of that in person. She's undergoing head gasket/block replacement surgery right now.
Anyone can call me athe shop any time. 778-285-3205, Sure Blast Ltd. Sandblasting - Do-it-yourself, Automotive, Industrial, Commercial, Marine, Household and Burn off Oven

GM - Yes, the ol`girl was container bound across the Pacific to the Left coast. It was my daily driver when I was there. At the time it worked out to only be about $1500 to ship the car with our home contents.
Here it is strictly for pleasure with collector plates. I`m looking at doing it again with a Land Rover Defender when I put together a few $$$ which I should have bought instead of the Pathfinder.

I've been through your Perth a hundred times too! I got all growed up in Ottawa. No Jaguars back then - mainly beaters...

Amazing, there's one I often see (similar to the Rover) locally, little beat up but still raw beauty, strength to go the distance.

You must be talking about that caramel coloured one I see occasionally. Looks like it has all the kit for trail/camping. Real niiiiiice.....
The only way to go is overseas. Look up what Defenders are going for in North America. Here's one for about $12k plus shipping in the UK...

The obvious solution is for you and the missus to each bring a car!

Default Reliable non-dealer service in Vancouver for 2005 X-Type

Hello Everyone:

My car is a 2005 X-Type Sportwagon 3.0l that has 180,000km. I am at the point where I need some finnicky repairs...some rear end shock work (burning up inside of rear tires). Elecgtrical stuff from malfunctioning back-up sensor, speaker problem, power seat movement etc.

Who do you recommend? Most work I get done at MCL but for this I am thinking I will try an independant and someone that doesn't mind a laundry list of little things and wants to make them all work again.

I also need a new key. I only have one and it does not funtion to oepn the power locks, tailgate, emerg light. Any ideas....

Thanks for your opinions on a service providor in Vancouver or Okanagan BC

Nigel

Nigel,

I'd try starting a whole new thread. This part of Canada is pretty quiet on the forum.

Check out this thread, it had some recommendations- https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/c...s-30561/page7/
