Unhappy Transmission

Hello my Canadian members:
I am looking for a transmission for 1998 XJ8 Vanden Plas. I live in Queenstown, New Brunswick. My daughter gave me this car for my 70th birthday. I have driven it for 4 years, and last year the transmission went. I have been searching all over, and my transmission mechanic is also looking. If you can help or lead me in the right direction, maybe I can fix my JaggySue.
Thanks, Lorraine

Yes, everyone plays the game of “swap a part” these days as opposed to overhaul the component.
The ZF 5HP transmission is serviceable. ZF still sells the parts.

But that doesn’t answer your question. car-part.com shows MANY available transmissions. (The ZF 5HP transmission is found in many vehicles) But I would think those would need an overhaul too.

The guys at jagbits.com have been helpful for me in the past. I would give them a call to discuss…
One thing for certain, the transmission is worth the same as the entire car.

Thank you Guy. I have written to jagbits.com, but will check car-part.com. I think my mechanic may have tried these sites, but will check with him and send info.
