The varnished wood on my center console needed some attention. I started with taping off around the areas first. The before shots with the tape show the small scratches and blemishes in the varnish. I initially attempted to do the correction by hand but it was just not working so I brought out the Flex Rotary Polisher and let it do the magic.

Products Used:
Wolfgang Uber Compound
Wolfgang Finishing Glaze
2 inch blue Lake Country pad
2 inch orange Lake Country pad

Tools
Flex Rotary Polisher PE-14-2-150
Masking tape

I used the Uber Compound with the blue pad and made 5 passes at speed setting 3. Then I used the orange pad with the Finishing Glaze and made 5 passes on speed setting 2.

Topped it off with two coats of carnuba wax.

Very brave! The veneer and finish is so thin.

A superb result.

The key thing I wanted to do was to keep the temperature down on the wood to prevent burning through the varnish. So I used foam pads and the compounding speeds did not exceed 1200 rpm's. The finishing polish speeds were at 900 rpm's for the first 3 passes then I lowered it down further to 600 rpm's. Throughout the process I kept checking the surface but surprisingly it did not heat up very much at all. In fact to my surprise, the varnish surface stayed much cooler than a clear coat surface.

Yesterday, I put two more coats of Pinnacle Souveran wax on to protect it further. This wax is amazing and really makes it shine. I really get a kick out of that every time I get in the car!
