Default Rock chips (road rash)

Anyone know where I could get road rash/rock chips repaired professionally? I live about 1.5 hours north of Chicago and will drive the distance to have it done right.

I came upon some construction and was bombarded by a hailstorm of rocks on the road. The sound was terrifying and the aftermath was worse! I now acquired a cluster of paint chips on my front bumper, upper/lower hood, near power vents, and mirror caps. Can this be fixed without a repaint? I have my vehicle's official touchup paint but I refuse to fix the issue myself.

I’m having the hardest time excepting what had happened. I drives me insane! It looks like someone put cigarette ash all over my vehicle. This really occupies my attention and I’m desperate for the correct solution.

I'd say that you could touch up the chips here n there, you could even look at getting them wet sanded down and then polished back up.....It'd be a decent job but still noticeable, probably costly and time consuming.

My best guess is you're going to need a respray if you want that fresh, good as new paint job, but hopefully Dave, or one of the other pro detailers will chime in and give their advice.

I feel your pain my friend!

My first repair quote totaled $3000. They told me my bumper, hood, and doors would need to be repaired and painted. They can't disguise the chips with just touchup/buff/detail/wetsand. Does anyone know about repainting and blending? Should I only repaint what's absolutely necessary? I've heard horror stories about repaints and I don't want to be the next story teller.

My next estimate will be from my dealership and I'm curious to see if they recommend the same repairs and cost.

On the positive side of things (if there is one) I just invested in a Grit Guard Dual-Bucket Washing System, a Dodo Juice"Wookie's Fist" wash mitt, and several Sonus Der Wunder MF towels. My XF will deserve some tender care after all is said and done.

No. I'm not sure what Dr. Colorchip is.
