Just picked up the jag from the detailer. Holy crap, they did a great job! I wish I had taken better "before" pics, especially of the coffee stained dove interior. They paid great attention to detail (when's the last time you cleaned inside the j-gate? Maybe that's a bad question, some of you lot seem more AR than even me. lol.) The Brembo look like they were just installed. Apparently they use "aircraft" wax- not sure if that's just marketing or makes a difference, but the car looks showroom. $395 out the door, which is $50 less than they quoted me. I didn't argue.

I don't have any connection or relationship to them- just a friendly recommendation.

Unfortunately I need to update my "recommendation." I recently experienced a significant drop in my MPG (~7mpg drop) and haven't had the time to investigate. Yesterday I popped the hood to do a quick check of the air intake hoses, and found the engine compartment had been cleaned. They must have powerwashed it during the detail. The light went on and I realized the detailing coincided with the drop in performance. Grrrrr. When I talked to these guys initially, they said they detail Jags "all the time" and even do work with British Motorcars Jag dealer in the city. They should know NEVER to powerwash the damn engine compartment. Given their "experience," I didn't think to specifically point out not to touch under the hood.

Engine Cleaning is definitley a tricky service, but done properly by a detailing service with plenty of experience is a must. Done properly one can enjoy the beauty of a clean engine bay either for personal enjoyment or when it comes tome for resale...

I have powerwashed hundreds of motors of my 25+ years of detailing and have never had a problem....I am also picky as to which motors I will clean.

Did they ever diagnose the problem or accept liability for what they did?
