Default Water Hoses and Hose Reels for DIY Car Washing

This will be a little bit generic topic since it doesn't apply directly to a Jaguar, but its time for me to buy a new water hose and I'm not too happy with my old hose reel either. There seems to be a bunch of new products since the last time I bought a water hose, including expanding hoses, woven hoses and metal-encased hoses, but also auto-retracting hose reels that look like just bigger versions of compressed air hose reels like you'd hang from the ceiling of a shop. Before I go buy another traditional product or waste money on some new innovation that looks cool on a TV commercial, I thought I'd ask my fellow gearheads. If you are washing your Jaguar yourself, by hand, what sort of water hose and hose reel are you using and are you really happy using it every weekend? Or otherwise did you try something that turned out to be junk and I should avoid it? I'm especially interested in hoses/reels that go at least 114' because I need to cover a big yard too, but even if you have experience with shorter products, it may help someone else (or maybe one type works best for the yard and another type is more convenient for washing cars). Or maybe I'm putting too much thought into my car washing tools/process?
