I just recently got my 03 S Type, and I wanted to look into giving it a throughough cleaning and detailing now that I have it home. But when I got home the other night I noticed that the leather was starting to get a small wrinkle in the lower left portion of the driver's seat. I know this can be expected to an extent from normal wear and tear, but does anyone know a product I can use to get it out? I'd like to keep my car looking brand new for as long as possible. hmm I have the same problem. Iam trying to look for something similiar but iam not sure they make anything to keep the wrinkles from happening. Idk if your interested in using tints they'll probebly help with that.[&:]

 

I've heard tint's will help out a lot with that. I just put a tint on my Lexus about 5 months ago so I wouldn't have to worry so much about the problem with that car because I'm having new leather put in there too. It's in the shop now. I still haven't decided on a tint gradient for the Jag. I want something dark enough that I won't have to worry about people trying to look inside, but light enough that I won't be constantly getting pulled over for it.

nothing can take away the wrinkles, only thing you can do is maintain it, dirt makes it look alot more wrinkled, make sure its very clean always

I definitely went ahead and put 20% tints all around with a 5% banner the week I got it. Plus, for the nights I need extra "privacy" I'm going to outsource privacy curtains for front and rear windows.

Thanks for tip. I'm actually thinking of fully detailing this weekend so the car will be fresh when I get back on the road to go to school (even though I'll have to wash the bugs off as soon as I get there).

I reckon all you do re the leather is keep it clean and " condition" it as often as is practical. That should help prevent it from worsening at least!

Pics of the upgradeed tints / detail and " night - time privacy curtains when fitted plz.......with some glamour on show would be a bonus.....lol

Yeah I was actually hoping I'd run into someone who may have had similar mods for me to go off of, but I haven't quite seen it how I want it. I suppose I'm going down the road less traveled. I think my aunt knows a spot in SC that can do spot treatment for the one little wrinkle spot. As far as treatment and conditioning, I think I read a thread where everyone discussed their favorite products to use- I'll revert back to it this weekend when I go to pick up more products.

As far as the curtains- that should turn out SICK. I want to try and get my wheels first though. So it might take a bit, because if I get the wheels I want that's gonna take some serious $$$$ Plus, I think I'm having them powder coated after I pick them up for a more "one off" look. All in all, it'll turn my S Type into something not quite done before.

 

Sounds great mate..........There are quite a few threads on detailing and leather treatment / restore etc etc, check them out, they may be of use.

Don't forget though that as and when you do these upgrades to keep us posted, hopefully with plenty of pics too

Oh of course! My grill should be in within the next day or two, then once I get that in I should have photos of the grill, and the car cleaned up nicely. I'm sure it'll look sexy, it already turns heads everywhere it goes. Once I get my other computer fixed up, I might see if I can do a photoshop of how it should look once it's finished for anyone interested in seeing the final product. Can't make any promises though, it's gonna take a little while to strip my computer down and rebuild it from the bottom up LOL.

 

Just throwing in my 2 cents. At work when people complain about the leather wrinkling, we send it to upholstery shop and they redye the leather in that part of the seat. works well 90% of the time.

Has anybody ever tried conditioning the leather with LEATHERIQUE, they have dyes also..It has worked very well for me...I love the stuff...A little labor intensive, but worth it to perserve your car's nice leather..

I agree..I like a few wrinkles too..makes it look more leathery..But this LEATHERIQUE will keep it soft, clean and helps prevent the leather from cracking and splitting.

 

Will Armour All wipes used regularly slow the wrinkling, or would I have to buy a conditioner?

 

Not ArmorAll. Get a good leather conditioner: Lexol, Leatherique, etc. to treat the leather.

I don't know of any way to totallyprevent wrinkling on leather car seats any more than you can prevent it on your leather shoes or leather jacket or whatever. Just keep the leather soft so wrinkles don't turn into cracks.

Or reupholster the seats in vinyl
