Default Looking for advice - Used E Pace

Hello, searching here for advice. I am researching a potential purchase on a 2020 E Pace 250 with 3X,XXX miles. The car was damaged when it was new, the damage was repaired and has been driven by the same owner for the last 3 years. The car has no warranty because of the prior damage. I am new to brand and have been on the search for a Lincoln SUV, but these cars are outstanding looking. I am a hobby tinkerer and prefer doing my own maintenance, oil changes, filters, any “minor stuff”. From what I am reading, most everyone takes these cars back to the dealer for routine servicing. I am assuming because the first several services are included in the warranty period. This particular car has the low battery warning message which would seem to indicate it needs a new battery. Again in my world, this would be as simple to head the local auto parts store and buy a good quality replacement battery and install it myself. But I have been reading something about “coding” or resetting after a battery install and it looks like it may need done by a dealer. I live in a rural area in the States, the closest dealers are 2.5 hours away. I am not sure this is the car for me although I am absolutely smitten by their looks and design. I realize any car can have issues and they all do. I am jus not sure these are owner serviced friendly and due to my distance from a dealer, I am a little concerned. What say you? Thanks in advance.

CONGRATULATIONS if you decide to buy the E-PACE! My wife and I recently bought back the E-PACE P300 R-Dynamic SE that we ordered new from the factory back in 2018. It now has 71,000+ miles on the odometer.

I'm one of those Jaguar owners who continues to have service performed by my local Alexandria, VA Land Rover (previously both Jaguar- Land Rover) dealer beyond the warranty period. They've provided us excellent service over the years.

First try disconnecting the ground terminal to the battery. Wait thirty seconds or so before reconnecting. The "low battery" warning was common to my 2015 & 2016 F-Type S' along with many other owners. I had also gotten into the habit of going through the same process with our XE and XF. Apparently, the issue was associated with anyone attaching a device to the OBD port such as when emissions testing is conducted. The solution was to disconnect the ground cable from the battery which somehow resets the "sleep" feature when the engine is shut down. The "sleep" feature powers down most of the electronic systems to save the battery. To fully put the vehicle to sleep, using the key fob, lock the vehicle. Then, lock it a second time. Jaguar must have permanently resolved the issue because, for years now, I've not had to resort to the process on our 2018 F-Type R-Dynamic, F-PACE S, E-PACE or F-PACE SVR.

I have owned a 2019 D180 EPace since new and a low battery warning is common place. Mine started after I fitted a dashcam with power during parking. The camera switches off when battery voltage gets down to a level set on the camera controller. What I've determined is that the low battery warning appears just slightly before the camera switches off. This has never been an issue in the nearly 5 years of use. I occasionally put the battery on a maintainer and it has never failed to start even with the low battery warning. I do believe that the voltage that the warning appears can be altered but I've never pursued that solution as it's not really a problem. Good luck with your search. It's a great car!

Hmmmm. Good information to keep in mind. Thanks. I didn't know the system is that sensitive. We have a Garmin dash cam fitted to all of our vehicles. They are all powered from a 12v socket or USB-A plug but I've never experienced any draining the vehicle's battery after shutdown. However, if I find that happening I will see if a dash cam is the culprit.

19 HSE Epace with dash cam. Put the dash cam in 2 years ago. Never had any battery issues/concerns before or after installing that. Never had any battery issues at all. My first Jag, and I have not had any issues with it. However my car is low miles, so that probably helps.

When not in use for a week or two, always in plug the battery in to a battery maintainer. If the battery Low Battery Warning appears again, it's time to buy a battery. Advanced Auto Parts carries DieHard H7 AGM batteries.

May I add, your E-Pace has the same engine as mine. It has a Turbo. Before turning the engine off, let it idle for 2 to 3 minutes or when you are nearing your house, drive the car slowly. The main purpose is to cool the Turbo down. A lot of people don't do that, minimizing the lifespan of the Turbo. And also, never do a 16K mile Oil change interval required by Jaguar. Do half of that like 8K miles and you'll increase the lifespan of your car's engine. i do mine at 5K miles
