70 OTS Brake and Fuel Line Replacements
I'm into a compete resto on my 70 OTS and have mostly finished the underside of the tub which is currently mounted on a rotisserie. While I have the underside flipped up and before I start installing any of the suspension I want to replace the chassis fuel and brake lines that were completely rotted out and not salvageable enough for copying or patterns. The replacement and routing of these do not seem to be covered in any manuals I have. Can anyone advise me where I can find better references for this task?? Thanks
John,
First, I am impressed and can not imagine the scope of your undertaking. I say this because I have a project car that I have been wrestling with for months just to do a cosmetic refresh, i.e. paint, interior, top, etc.
Even that would have been beyond me had I not had a SECOND to consult as a pattern during reassembly due to my inadequate memory and photography.. Given the number of cars you currently have perhaps you have room for one more? Find a bargain survivor and when your project is complete, flip, improve, or restore it.. In a pinch you can even borrow a part from it rather than wait on the post for an otherwise insignificant doodad, "dollar waiting on a dime" type thing.
I am nearly at the end of my project and debating which of those tacts to take with my "pattern". I have improved it a bit and enjoyed it as a driver, but am looking to part with it now. Unlike you, I am neither equipped, skilled or have the temperament for this type endeavor. I have received a lot of support here, but a dearth of local technical support makes these two cars untenable. So I will be looking to part with both and replace with one that has been done to higher degree.by someone like YOU!
Best of luck; keep us posted,
Pete

Thanks for the thoughts Pete. It would be nice to have a donor car around but that's not really feasible for me. I'm very thankful for the support of the many Jag people on the various forums and for YouTube video libraries. Its been a long journey but I'm making slow but continuous progress. I've learned a lot, developed some new skills and taken on some more complex projects that ever before. As usual, timing projections have been grossly underestimated and small issues, like finding simple parts, become huge delays, but I'm hoping to see some significant progress this year.
Hi John and keep up the great work! A lucky car for sure.

If anything, you could join that forum and then DM/PM or post those members who worked through this... I always try to remember that I can't be the only person to be in this situation (whatever it is!)
You also may be able to get some help from Chuck Hadley at Monocoque Metalworks.

and possibly Maikel Lemke, though he leans more towards S1 Es.
