Hi all,
Its almost time to change my oil in my 69 E-Type 2+2
Last oil change I used Castrol GTX SAE 20W-50 which I have been pleased with, but I was wondering if anyone with more experience than me has found something better or more preferable to use?
Thanks
Rael

Alot depends on what condition your engine is in... has it been rebuilt? If it is aging, Valvoline sells a high mileage conventional oil. I believe it is available in 10W30 and/or 20w/50. About 2 years ago I had the 98,000 mile engine on my series 2 rebuilt and the advice was to run a high grade 10w30. I have used Valvoline for many years and in many British cars so I am using the VR1 10W30 conventional (racing oil). I live in northcentral Wisconsin and only drive the car from about April through November. 20w50 is thought to be better in hotter climates/weather. If it's 90 or above, I don't take the car out.
Thanks for your input Valerie

I use a standard 20/50. Castrol is fine, millers is fine, Valvoline is fine - not sure it matters too much unless you're indulging in extreme driving. Key thing is regular oil changes, mineral not synthetic oil, and don't overfill.
