There is a note that says that these figures are based on information in Jaguar Sports Cars by Paul Skilleter in which the author notes the following " Production figures have been calculated from factory listing of chassis numbers but should be regarded as a guide only, within the limits of several units either way for the various totals."

Good post Valerie.
Every time I see these production numbers it reminds me that the market decides which model or feature is more desirable. The lowest production number models (the more rare by virtue of the least produced) are not necessarily the most desirable/valuable. Although, judging by recent auction prices, the FHC are getting closer to the OTS prices.
Bill.

Yes, a change in value for sure... the other info supporting this is the 'valuation tool' on the Hagerty Insurance site. I think I'd better review the value I have on the E insured with them and bump it up a bit.

Just to prove that there is an exception to every rule, I have a 1969 Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe (admittedly an early Series 2) that was manufactured on September 2, 1968

I agree! My 69 is supposed to have a mercury cell powering its clock, yet it's obvious that the car came from the factory with the clock powered by the car's battery...."several units either way"... We are just all very fortunate to have one (or some cases, more than one!)
