In redoing my interior I removed the transmission comer to find ratty foam pieces. I cut a 2" foam block to fit. Wen my son saw this he said his Miata gets very warm there so maybe the foam would catch fire. Your thoughts would be helpful, cheers Peter.

Hi Havejagwillfix,
I have never heard of a XKE burning due to the trans tunnel foam. If it gets oil soaked I would replace it.
Now a Miata on the other hand has a catalyst converter below the trans and they could reach 1800F if a spark plug fails, and 800F under normal conditions.
