Default Extra Engine

Well I got my new-to-me series II home this last week after and 1100 km drive through the night.
I have an extra 4.2 liter engine and automatic transmission that came with the car.
Is there any market for these?

Thanks
Jim

Well, I suppose there is, but in the US and Canada, lumping is well established to deal with duff XK engines. The long stud engines with EFI like yours, that would have come out of an XJ Series 3 saloon suffered from cracking between the bores up until the slotted blocks came in in the latter years. A cracked block is the "kiss of death" as it's so expensive to repair, requiring lipped cylinder liners to cover the cracks. Much machining is involved so not cheap. As I said before, the most valuable component is probably the cylinder head with its much bigger inlet valves, so could be useful for those wanting to get extra power.

Fighting the Flaw in the 4.2 Engine Block | Jaguar Car Club of Tasmania

Look at this article to get an idea of what you have to verify as "OK" to a potential buyer for late XK engine, other wise the block won't be worth the shipping cost.
If the shop evaluating the block is not familiar with Jaguar Engines, you could be spending money that can't be recovered.

As Fraser said, the Cylinder head is desirable as a stand-alone unit, and if the other engine needs a cylinder head overhaul, just put the money into EFI head for your E.

Same issue with transmission, not worth shipping cost as a core, but if it is a verifiable low mileage transmission, it will just need seal kit and adjustment, there should be market if you are patient.
