Default Heater Box Series 1 & 2 fitment?

I am in need of a heater box for my 1970 XKE restoration. Are the series 1 & 2 heater boxes the same? Are they interchangeable? Attached is a photo of the heater box I am currently looking at. I am hoping it is correct for a series 2.

Thank you!

Hi Willyspu,
Welcome to the community.
I have a 68 Series 1.5 and my heater box looks just like the one in the photos you posted. To be sure, I recommend you go to the SNG online catalog and look at the difference there. I think the difference is only internally. Nice looking heater box by the way.
Good luck.

Thank you for the reply. SNG and Terry's is where I started and it sure looks like they are the same.

Yes, the boxes are same for most E models, at least the early cars. My '64 original heater box is same as shown in your photo, sans the "negative earth" tag.

Hi again Willyspu,
I was just looking at the SNG catalog again. According to the drawing in the SNG catalog, the heater box in the photos you posted is a series 2 and should work just fine on your 1970 E-Type.
The difference appears to be the internal plapper to change the direction of the air flow, and the external brackets where the operating cables are attached to.
Good luck.
Bill.

Great, thank you for the confirmation. That is waht I thought but since there can be variations I thought I should check. The box in the photo is ordered. Once item down a few more to go.

Default Series 2 heater

I have a 69 series 2 built in August. Your photos show the same heater box form factor that I have. That one you are looking at is gorgeous! Engine bay 'jewelry' to say the least!
