Does anyone make a 1:24 diecast model of the series 1 coupe, in red (LHD)?

 

Nearest I could find in 1:24 was RHD S1

I had to compromise a bit on my own model, because I actually owned a S1 2+2, but there isn't a model. Never mind.

 

Oh, I understand. I have been looking for a 1/18 die cast model of a 1988 red 911 Carrera Coupe.

 

Bill, I assume you've looked on eBay as well as general google searches with various words, e.g.

(I don't know anything about Porsche)
It took me forever to find matching or near-matching models, for instance the E-Type was one of 2 available worldwide, and I found just one 1965 S-Type in Germany, in Gold as I owned, so I had to snap it up. Unfortunately the sellers know they are rare!

Most of these model cars are obsolete, in the case of Monogram nearly as old as the actual car!

P.S. (Today) I was enjoying admiring the Monogram kit advert...just browsing...when this voice came over my shoulder "NO! You've bought Enough!"

(I have not been able to find a black MK10, though there's a gold BoS brand on ebay for a ridiculous price. I have not been able to find any XJ6 SII at all, nearest is SIII. My current X350/358 appears not to be modelled at all)

 

While not only E-Types these pics represent some of the 2000+ Jaguar/Daimler models the Coventry Foundation holds in three locations. These photos are a bit dated and a few hundred have been added since. The model kits in boxes are unbuilt and will likely remain so. We do have models in excess of our needs from time to time and may be found in our E bay stores when available. Hope you enjoy.

Nice display, Chris. I just have mine on a shelf at work. Anyone that comes into my office knows where I stand as far as cars go.

Purchased secretly brand new from Germany as the only one available worldwide, and when it turned up...yeah... $NZ390 ($US264)
It's the exact S-Type I owned in the correct colour. (hard to find both model and colour)

It's a Cult model. Not the best compared to Autoart in that nothing opens, however it's fine otherwise. The leaper is a bit large in the photo, though not really noticeable "in person".
Many references denigrate the 1960's S-Type (including the designers!), however it was better/more luxurious than the Mk2 and besides had the same independent rear suspension as the E-Type albeit scaled down to suit. I Loved It! (my 1965 S-Type in 1973 would have only been 8 years old at the time...)

Oh Bother! I know (or hope) you Guys & Gals with the full size, will sympathise that maintenance extends to my model too.

So I handle my $960 ($US600) Autoart 1/18 E-Type with tissues. But it seems that the tissue paper, umm, ripped off a wiper. I mean, the S1 must be the only car with 3 wipers so it's a Feature!

I know I lost the wiper in the lounge. It's 1.5cm long. But I've since vacuumed the lounge. So I spent 1+ hours crawling over the carpet and another 2+ hours sifting through the vacuum bag...to no avail of course.
I find spare parts on eBay, but not a windscreen wiper.
So I had to make a wiper myself (the right wiper in the photo). This consisted of hammering wire-wrap wire flat, soldering, filing, painting with Molotow Liquid Chrome, and buying a "3rd Hand Stand" to assist in attaching it with superglue on a toothpick. Total about $50 even though I made the part myself.

No-one will sympathise with me. Except surely fellow E-Type "owners"?
(Those are the tweezers used to hold it, mounted on a stand. The new bit is where the wire meets the big bit)


I would also like to say that, even though I haven't owned a full-size E-Type since 1975, I am coming to appreciate more and more just what a classic she is, in any version.

 

Wow! That is good work, Chris. I still play with models once in a while, but I don't have that kind of skill. Good job.

 

So I just bought my 11th 1/18 Jaguar, this time Autoart BRG E-Type S1 Roadster. Around 1/2 price at auction (still kinda expensive), what could I do?

But what I'm really enjoying is all the subtleties of the various mods, which is not just Series 1,2,3 but more like continuous "improvement". I didn't know anything about this when I had my real S1 2+2 back in the '70's.
Anyway, a piece of artwork it is.
