What is the current consensus on repairing the Opus ignition on my 1974 xke. I have looked at pertronix, reopus conversion, crane and lumination.
Pertronix seems the most cost effective. Has anyone evaluated the smartest way to go? Does Pertronix work?
Thanks
Edgar
I had a Crane system which worked except the hardware was sort of cheap. The bracket holding the pickup moved while running which threw off the timing. I could never get it to stay in position.
Ive had two conversion kits from SNG Barratt. This conversion replaces the OPUS with later constant energy ignition (CEI) as found on the XJ-S. It’s more expensive but comes with a new distributor, ballast pack, coil, and updated ign module packed inside the original finned box. Everything looks perfectly stock and gives trouble free flawless ignition. Just my experience. I don’t work for them.
