Default This wash was really needed...

Hey guys,

as time moves on, I am making slow progress, but at least it is a kind of progress. The next step is to get the body looking great again. I have found a bodyshop specialised in rare cars (the XJ-S is still a rare car here, even though hundreds are being imported each year) and they will do the engine bay work for me...

So it meant getting the old gal looking tidier and packing the cables up... Should have done that earlier... As the Marelli ignition ampo plugs have rust in them now, but nothing that can't be repaired

I rolled her out of her narrow cage and got the pressure cleaner out... I'll let the pictures speak for themselves... Don't have a go at me for the way she looks, I have no other place to put her (at the moment).

I think it was about time, don't you think so too?

It's actually a sound system with speakers, CD player, cassette decks, storage spaces, an amp etc.

Just now like 25 years old and dead...

It has a cracked body (loads of them actually) and nothing works anymore. It has also stood in the rain for more than 4 months (you know, the Summers we get are like in Britain). The wooden base has swollen up...

You don't want it.

Yep. All from the States. Picked up there for like $3000 and sold here for €15000 and more...

In my local classic car shop you'll find 4 all in the mid 20k price range! All American imports.

Then maybe there is hope for values in the USA. We really do have way too many!

Daim:

1. A good bath and the car looks great. Oughta enthuse you to get it "finished" and on the road.

2. The music thing. My bad ears limit my enjoyment As my Jeep's radio is suddenly afflicted with errant RF noise. I dug out a couple of ancient cassettes. Marty Robbins. What a crooner and show man. Also, a more than decent NASCAR driver in his time. Alas, lived fast and had a good looking corpse.

3. Later that night, on TV. The first :Lawrence Welk show. Black and white. The early long lasting stars. Talent, no question. But the progression shown in late immensely clear.

Stand out. A couple in their 70's from the audience. A lively and very proficient polka. The boss took a turn . More than OK.

Old guys and gals still "in the game".

What are your plans for the engine bay? I only ask as I am thinking of changing the colour on my car and a bit fear full of stripping what's left out for painting.

Clean it up and keep it stock. The engine bay in mind will just be sorted and derusted with some touch ups...

With the amount of rain and wind and dust we have here, the paint will be worse

Beck's um. good. My local "drug store" usually has it on sale. I often bring home a 12 pack.
